40 years of Institute of Forest Ecology
The Institute of Forest Ecology, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology (FFWT), Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry in Brno, directs its activities to the study of forest ecosystems in terms of supporting sustainable forest management and their functions in the landscape. Importance of the Institute exceeds limits of the University and so it is a reputable workplace in an international context. Top-ranging results have been achieved particularly in the field of ecophysiology of forest trees and stress ecology.

The institute provides instruction in full-time study, part-time study and PhD
study programmes of forestry and landscape engineering. It ensures
instruction of compulsory subjects Forest
Ecology and Ecophysiology of Forest
Trees and also Forest Ecology
for foreign students. The share in instruction consists also in ensuring
instruction and courses for PhD students within postgraduate studies, providing
field trips for students of our faculty and students from abroad and in the
supervision of both home and foreign trainees, PhD-degree and MSc-degree
students.
At present, the Institute serves as seat of the Czech Soil Science Society.
